红娘在《西厢记》中的作用不仅仅是个丫环,她的作用更表现在她是剧中剧外的联络人,既是剧中人物,同时又超出了剧情范围。红娘的积极意义在于她极其符合台内、台外以及作者的各方面要求,但由于红娘的媒介作用,她不断地消解了矛盾冲突,致使戏剧矛盾无法达到真正的高潮,从而造成《西厢记》的价值弱化。
Abstract：Hongniang is just a servant in the Romance of West Chamber, but her function much displays the contact people between the inside and the outside of the drama .she is the dramatis person, while beyond it . The positive significance of Hongniang is that her performance meets every requirements such as the outside of the drama ,inside of the drama and the author. But she clears up the conflictions constantly because of her media function , so it doesn't make the drama's confliction to the climax, and it makes the value of the Romance of West Chamber weaken.
